For Dr. Rivera:

“As a writing coach, Dr. Heather Rivera is gentle and constructive with her comments and suggestions. I hate criticism, but when writing, it’s necessary to get honest feedback from one who’s traveled the road of both avid reader and talented writer. She has successfully published books for young readers and adults. Moreover, she is always searching online or attending writers’ workshops to hone her craft. Heather communicates easily and is quick to point out the parts she likes about my characters and dialogue before guiding me to points in the story that need work. Her suggestions are given so that I can make corrections to improve my ending and clear up points that are ambiguous or confusing to the reader. In other words, she pinpoints how and where to make revisions. I am still rewriting and polishing my first novel. Without Heather’s thoughtful suggestions, I would be stymied as a writer. With her help, I have a plan of action and feel encouraged to finish my book.” – Lillian Nader, Ed.M.

“I received my Ph.D. from the American Institute of Holistic Theology. Dr. Heather Rivera served as my dissertation mentor, coaching, guiding, and inspiring me throughout this demanding process. I cannot speak highly enough of her insight, input, ideas, professionalism, and most importantly, compassion and patience. An accomplished author herself, Dr. Heather understands the challenges inherent in the writing process: ‘writer’s block’, deadlines, focus, self-doubt, etc. Dr. Heather will gently guide you through the process while honing your writing skills. I highly recommend contacting Dr. Heather for any book and writing-related services.” – Barbara Mango, Ph.D.

“I would like to express my experiences on working with Heather Rivera on a mentor/student level and personal level as well. During my last part of my PhD program, we were required to write a dissertation and Heather was appointed to me as my mentor. I had a lot of questions and concerns and anxieties, but talking with her on numerous occasions, she put all my emotions to rest. This is not to say that I didn’t have many more of which I did, but each time I contacted her, she responded immediately and with sincerity to jump right in there to quell my angst. She made me feel, that no matter how small or how many times I asked the same questions over again, they were never a bother to her and she took each one of them and gave them the importance that I felt that they needed. Without the patience, guidance, assistance, and encouragement from Heather, I don’t believe that I could have finished my dissertation, nor received the grade that I received from it. I truly enjoyed working with Heather on my dissertation, she always had great words of encouragement and enthusiasm that I felt that I could do anything…especially finish a college paper. Even when she would tell me that something was wrong with this thought or statement, she didn’t make you feel foolish nor did she say it in such a way that made you feel less intelligent. I look forward to working with Heather on my new book that I hope to have ready for editing and publishing in the very near future. It has been a real privilege.” Laura Crawford, RN., BS., PhD. Writer/Author

“Having gone through the process of self-publishing more than a few times herself, Heather Rivera has plenty of helpful knowledge to offer to both seasoned and amateur authors. Whether your questions revolve around story formatting or publishing, all inquiries are treated with the same level of care and receive detailed and specific answers. Without her help, Vendetta Dark would still be sitting on my desk, unpublished and unread. If you’re looking to write a book or have already written one and need help getting it out there, Heather Rivera is the right person to talk to.” – Josh Pederson, Author of “Vendetta Dark”.

“Writing my dissertation was unlike any formal document that I have ever written. I would honestly compare it to writing a preview to a book. I was very fortunate to have Dr. Heather Rivera as my mentor to help guide me through the entire dissertation writing process from start to finish. She was very professional, knowledgeable, efficient and understanding. She provided me with some much needed constructive criticism but also positive feedback and encouragement. Whenever I experienced obstacles or stumbling blocks during my writing, I would contact her and she who would respond quickly so that I get could back on track and continue to move forward. Dr. Heather’s qualifications, credentials and accomplishments speak for themselves and I highly recommend her… she’s the real deal.” – Lynnet Joy Kelly RN, PhD

For Dr. Miles:

“Dr. Marjorie Miles memoir, Healing Haikus, weaves honesty, humor and poetry into a heartfelt tale of her cancer journey. I laughed and cried and was touched deeply by her words. The healing power of the simple three lined haikus she was inspired to write during her cancer experience is evident throughout the book. I highly recommend this inspirational book. Dr. Miles’ muse came to her in a dark time providing a healing outlet. Now Dr. Miles continues to help others find their muses, including me. Thank you. “Heather Rivera PhD, Author of “Healing the Present from the Past” and “Quiet Water.”

“Marjorie Miles’ book, Healing Haikus, A Poetic Prescription for Surviving Cancer, is a best friend that will hold your hand and walk with you through the difficult phases of this terrifying journey. Marjorie knows that your life changes forever when the doctor says, ‘It’s cancer.’ She candidly and with humor takes the reader through her journey with lung cancer from diagnosis through recovery, and along the way using haikus that provide both hope and healing. “Paula Marshall

“Marjorie Miles is truly a bright light in this world. When cancer came to her, she approached it with the stance and stamina of the spiritual warrior that she is. An intuitive coach and hypnotherapist, Marjorie utilized guided imagery and positive visualization in tandem with traditional medicine to activate her own healing. When her inner guidance prompted her to write poems, she was wise enough to listen. Her poems and journey to the other side of the battle with cancer are narrated with wit and charm. I highly recommend her book, Healing Haikus, a Poetic Prescription for Surviving Cancer. It is a lively and informative memoir for anyone who needs the courage and inspiration to meet seemingly daunting challenges. “Lillian Nader, M.Ed., CHT, Guided Imagery Therapist, Author of “Theep & Thorpe: Adventures in Space”, “Pandora”, a musical comedy, “Native Americans: A Proud Heritage”, a workbook.

“It is rare to find a book that inspires uplifts and motivates so beautifully. This memoir covers Marjorie’s metamorphosis through cancer and her creative power of poetry. Her story is a life jacket for anyone facing a health challenge. Most of all you will want to share this book with everyone you.” Teena Armstrong, Ph.D. M.S.
